The Strand Offices Near Completion in Playa del Rey

A new 10,000 SF office compound at 311 & 315 Culver Blvd in Playa del Rey is nearing completion and may be the first sign of change coming to this laid back, little known pocket of the Los Angeles coast. The Strand Offices will be a Class A, gated office compound featuring two 3-story 5,000 SF office buildings situated on .23 acres. According to their leasing information, the Property will offer high-end design architecture and materials throughout, unobstructed views of the Ballona Wetlands and the Marina, electric vehicle charging stations, bike racks and a lockable surfboard rack. It is being developed by Kim Macy of Cove Spring Partners LP. With the demand for office space increasing in the Silicon Beach area, this building seams well positioned to cater to the creative/tech tenants who have been moving into the Venice/Playa Vista/Marina del Rey vicinity.

Though Playa del Rey has remained under the radar for years, the current wave of tech tenants and their employees moving into the area may inevitably usher in change to this sleepy surfer town. The Legado Companies has proposed a 72 unit residential / 14,000 SF retail mixed-use building at 138 Culver in a long-vacant triangular lot. The project is currently working its way through the planning and entitlement process and local residents have generally opposed the size of the project. The restaurants Outlaws and Bistro du Soleil have recently closed, and Playa Provisions is nearing completion in the old Tower 42 space. Lets hope Playa del Rey can retain its off the beaten path vibe!
